[RO] Comoara din Sânnicolau Mare sau Comoara din Nagyszentmiklós este un important tezaur din 23 vase din aur din evul mediu timpuriu, cu o greutate totală de 9.945 kg (aproximativ 22 lbs), găsit în anul 1799 lângă oraşul Sânnicolau Mare (Nagyszentmiklós în limba maghiară, Groß-Sankt-Niklaus în limba germană) în nordul Banatului (pe atunci parte a Ţinutului Torontal din Regatul Ungar, din cadrul Imperiului Habsburgic, în zilele noastre în judeţul Timiş, din vestul României). Comoara, constând în 23 vase de aur şi datate în mod variat din secolul VI până în secolul X, a fost găsit la data de 3 iulie 1799 de Nera Vuin, un ţăran sârb, în vecinătatea Sânnicolaului Mare. După excavare, comoara a fost transaferată la Viena, capitala imperiului. De atunci, se află în posesia Muzeului Kunsthistorisches, unde este expusă in mod permanent. Locul descoperirii tezaurului se află astăzi pe strada Comori, care în anul 1881 a fost însemnat cu piatra comemorativă care nu mai există.
[EN] The Treasure of Sânnicolau Mare or Treasure of Nagyszentmiklós is an important hoard of 23 early medieval gold vessels, in total weighing 9.945 kg (about 22 lbs), found in 1799 near the town of Sânnicolau Mare (Nagyszentmiklós in Hungarian,Groß-Sankt-Niklaus in German)in northern Banat (then part of the Torontál County of the Kingdom of Hungary within the Habsburg Empire, today in Timiş County in western Romania). The treasure, consisting of 23 gold vessels and variously dated from the 6th to the 10th century, was found on 3 July 1799 by Nera Vuin, a Serb farmer, in the vicinity of Sânnicolau Mare. After the excavation, the treasure was transferred to Vienna, the capital of the empire. Ever since, it has been in the possession of the Kunsthistorisches Museum there, where it is on permanent display. The place of the treasure discovery is today on Comori Street, which in 1881 was marked with a memorial stone that is no longer there.
