Geocache Description:

This is a replacement of our TWELFTH in this series of caches (or 'treasures' as they're called by our now 5 1/2 year old little boy) that were all made up by him (with a little assistance from Dad) as this previous was muggled & archived - The Umhlanga Promenade - NEW POSITION SO NEW GC. PLEASE HAVE A GOOD LOOK AND REPLACE AS YOU FOUND IT...

This is a FUN one where Mom's, Dad's and Kids will have to put beady eyes and hands to work - with my little boy we found the spot and hid this one well. The GC is on the main path although slightly to the side and hidden from view, but the location is still in 'relatively' plain sight 'for beady eyes' so stealth must be exercised. (Difficulty level is mainly due to stealth that is required). There's a place to sit nearby and search with your eyes - once you see it, it'll be quite obvious. Please be aware of inquisitive muggles who may come and muggle the GC after you've left. There's always muggles here but more so on weekends, you can access at night but obviously be aware of your personal safety and security. Always be courteous to other traffic along the path.

PLEASE REPLACE AS YOU FOUND IT...! to ensure protection against the elements and muggles

The Umhlanga Promenade and the estuary trails at the end are a true gem that not many cities in the world can compete with - a beautifully paved promenade that runs along the coast up to an estuary reserve and lagoon, from North to South. Permanently frequented by holiday makers and locals alike : Runners, Walkers, Kids and Dogs.

We visit here often and believe that there should be a GC every 200m of the approx 2.5km of paved promenade, although due to the immense amount of muggle traffic, this is not really possible - we're starting slowly but keep a lookout for the continuation of this series.

You can park very close to this GC and at many areas along the promenade, but please rather park at the shops and take a short (<1.5km) walk to the GC - if, you like, keep going until you get to the end of the paving (<2.5km) or keep going through the estuary (daylight only and allow an additional hour) - you won't regret the extra distance and you can turn back at any time. Note that all distances shown above are in one direction - so double up for the entire (including return) journey.

Our little boy started geocaching with us at the age of 3 in Dec 2014 and absolutely loves it, especially the GC's large enough to have lots of goodies to look through. He's now almost as good as us at finding GC's that are within his reach/height.!

Accordingly, he was very excited to hit the shops to buy goodies, bottles, notepads, pencils, etc and to pack his 'treasures' ready for deployment.

We discussed this hiding place with him and agreed where the GC should go. He hid it for other kids (& adults) to enjoy finding, opening, looking through, trading and enjoying.

This is a small / medium GC, well disguised and hidden inside of a natural object. Not meant to be a difficult find nor is the terrain challenging. Note that my GPS had 3m accuracy at all reading times. If you're on wheels (kids only) or a semi-fit walker / runner, than take the route from the start 'trailhead' all the way to the end of the promenade and back - there are / will be a number of GC's here to find.

There is a pencil and sharpener to sign the log book and keep the pencil sharp (although these items tend to get muggled, sadly by fellow geocahers). You can trade small items and please do.
