Questa cache è nascosta sulla sommità del monte Baffelan, una bella cima del Sengio Alto.

This cache is hidden on the top of mount Baffelan.

Il Baffelan e il Sengio Alto


Il Baffelàn è una delle più caratteristiche cime delle Piccole Dolomiti. È composta prevalentemente da Dolomia principale, e vista da sud mostra un profilo ben evidente a triangolo acuto. La parete orientale, quella più adatta a salite alpinistiche, è alta 300 m. È considerata l'icona di tutti gli alpinisti vicentini.
E' una delle cime del Sengio Alto, una breve catena montuosa di carattere dolomitico, il cui versante orientale è particolarmente roccioso e scosceso, mentre quello occidentale scende più dolcemente verso i boschi e i prati sottostanti. Da sud a nord possiamo trovare le seguenti cime:
La Sisilla (1621 m), molto caratteristica per la sua parete verticale e per la sovrastante Madonnina
La Cima delle Ofre (1780 m)
Il Baffelan (1793 m), caratteristico nella sua forma squadrata e per la sua parete verticale di circa 300 metri
I Tre Apostoli, tre piccole cime, strette fra Baffelan e Cornetto, poco più basse dei fratelli maggiori
Il Cornetto (1899 m), la cima più ampia e articolata, oltre che la più alta.
La dorsale è percorsa da nord a sud da un panoramico sentiero d'arroccamento risalente alla Prima guerra mondiale, scavato nella nuda roccia regalando scorci davvero caratteristici sulle pareti a perpendicolo, che parte dal Passo delle Gane (fra Cima delle Ofre e Baffelan) fino ai piedi della cima del Cornetto. Le vie d'accesso sono veloci e permettono di raggiungere il sentiero d'arroccamento solitamente in circa un'ora: possono essere accessibili a tutti, come le due salite, dai due versanti, al Passo delle Gane, riservate agli escursionisti con una certa esperienza, come la salita dalla Sella di Nord-Ovest, oppure agli alpinisti, come il Vaio Stretto.

Come raggiungere la cache


Scartando l'idea di scalare la parete orientale, destinata ai soli alpinisti esperti scalatori, la via per recuperare questa cache consiste nel percorrere il sentiero di arroccamento fino a Passo delle Gane per poi seguire la via normale fino alla cima del Baffelan.
Via normale: dalla forcella salire a sinistra per un saltino roccioso di 1° e traccia con segnavia, risalire dei canalini (I°) e traversare a sinistra per un terrazzino sporgente, risalire per una fessura appoggiata ed un successivo diedro (II°-), aggirare poi sulla destra una placca salendo per canalini (I°+) e per traccia in breve alla piatta cima con croce (20').
Attenzione: l'ultimo tratto descritto è una breve e divertente salita non attrezzata ma un po' ripida e a volte esposta, solida e con buoni appigli. Occorre arrampicarsi con l'ausilio delle mani ed è necessario prestare assoluta attenzione perchè alcuni tratti sono un po' esposti. La cache si trova sulla cima a qualche metro dalla croce sotto un tumulo di rocce (vedi spoiler).




Baffelan and Sengio Alto


Baffelàn is one of the most characteristic peaks of the Little Dolomites. It consists predominantly of the main Dolomite, and from the south it shows a clearly visible acoustic triangle. The eastern wall, the most suitable for alpine climbs, is 300 m high. It is considered the icon of all vicentine climbers.
It is one of the summits of the Sengio Alto, a short dolomitic mountain range, whose eastern slope is particularly rocky and steep, while the western one descends more gently towards the woods and meadows below. From south to north we can find the following peaks:
Sisilla (1621 m), very characteristic for its vertical wall and for the overhanging Madonna
Cima delle Ofre (1780 m)
The Baffelan (1793 m), characteristic in its square shape and its vertical wall of about 300 m
The Three Apostles, Three Little Peaks, Closely Between Baffelan and Cornetto The Cornetto (1899 m), the largest and articulated top, as well as the highest.
The dorsal route is from north to south from a scenic hiking trail dating back to World War I, excavated in the bare rock, giving really distinctive views of the perpendicular walls, which starts from the Passo delle Gane (between the Cima delle Ofre and Baffelan) to the Feet of the Cornetto summit. The access routes are quick and allow you to reach the hiking trail usually in about one hour: they can be accessed by everyone.

How to reach the cache


By discarding the idea of ​​climbing the eastern wall, intended for mountaineering climbers only, the way to retrieve this cache is to walk along the hiking trail to Passo delle Gane and then follow the normal way to the top of Baffelan. > Normal Way: From the fork climb to the left for a rocky saltbow of 1 ° and trace with trailer, trace the tracks (I °) and go left for a protruding terrace, trace for a sloping slit and a subsequent die (II °) , Then turn a plaque on the right by going up for pipes (I ° +) and trace short on the top with cross (20 ').
Warning: The last stretch described is a short and fun climb but a bit steep and sometimes exposed, solid and with good grip. You need to climb up with the help of your hands and you need to be absolutely careful because some traits are a little exposed. The cache is on the top a few feet from the cross under a mound of rocks (see spoiler).
