Location: On the Rainbow Reach Road, between Te Anau and Manapouri. 12 minutes from Te Anau.
The great river to the east of the Misty Mountains, it runs from north to south through much of Middle-earth. Anduin means "long-river". In the Fellowship of the Ring, the ring company leaves the Lothlorien (the kingdom of the elf Galadriel) aboard three boats and descend the river Anduin to the Rauros Falls where they undergo an attack of orcs . It is also at this moment that Frodo and Sam leave the company to continue towards the Mordor alone.
