Geocache Description:

In the top of a large rock at the this part of the Otley Chevin hilltop is a mysterious cutting, known locally as 'The Devil's Frying Pan' due to its shape. It's a large bowl cut into the rock, with a channel coming off it. While it's almost certainly man-made, there doesn't seem to be much hard evidence as to who created this unusual feature or why. One local theory is that it was a Druid sacrificial altar.

This location can be accessed on foot from Otley by crossing the bridge at the end of Station Road and following the footpaths up the hill. Alternatively there is parking at the nearby Chevin Car Park off York Gate. Either way, the journey is worth it - there are impressive views of the surrounding countryside from the cache site.

A word of caution - the terrain here is rather uneven and please do take particular care whilst climbing onto the rock itself (especially if accompanying young children). Rock can be slippery when wet and there is a sheer drop over one edge. If you are not sure that you can attempt this cache safely, please do not attempt.

As a Virtual Cache, there is of course no container to find here - to claim this find, you must first visit the site and message the cache owner with the answer to this question:
In which direction does the 'handle' of the frying pan point?

A. North East
B. North West
C. South East
D. South West

Please do not include the answer in your found log. Found logs containing the answer, or logged before the correct answer is sent to the CO, will be deleted.
Once you've sent the answer to the CO, please feel free to log (no need to wait for a reply from the CO).
