This cache is part of the 2018 Spokane Trains And Railroads GeoChallenge. Spokane has a strong history as a major train hub, and in many ways still is. The STAR Challenge will take geocachers on an adventure, finding caches in places significant to railroads past and present. You will visit locations featuring retired train cars, streetcar rails, bridges, graves and rail yards. Successful completion of the STAR Challenge is rewarded with a trackable Geocoin.

The Great Fire of Spokane occurred on August 4, 1889 and destroyed most of downtown Spokane. The fire was started at the upper level of Wolf's Lunch Counter and Lodging House, but there are some who believe that it could have been started by a spark at a nearby rail line. This Virtual Cache is at a memorial plaque for the Spokane Great Fire which is located between Railroad Alley and an active train overpass.
When logging this cache, you must post a picture of one of the three options:
1. A picture that shows you and the Spokane Great Fire Monument.
2. A picture of your GPS with the Spokane Great Fire Monument.
3. A picture with your hand showing a thumbs up sign at the Spokane Great Fire Monument.
Logs without a picture of one of the three options will be deleted!
