Il borgo di Terricciola, situato in Valdera, è caratterizzato dalla presenza di numerose tombe ipogee risalenti al periodo etrusco, tra il IV e il II secolo avanti Cristo. Gli ipogei si dividono in tre gruppi, le Cantine situate nella parte occidentale del paese, il complesso dell'Ipogeo del Cippo, dell’Ipogeo delle Conchiglie e dell’Ipogeo delle Nicchie situati nella parte nord-orientale del borgo, e dall'Ipogeo del Belvedere, situato presso la terrazza panoramica nella parte orientale, affacciato sul dirupo delle Grottacce. Quest'ultimo è stato musealizzato, e qui sono stati posti alcuni cippi rinvenuti nel territorio circostante. La visita all'Ipogeo è possibile su appuntamento contattando il gruppo archeologico Tectiana. L'ipogeo misura 15,40 metri di lunghezza e 3,83 metri di larghezza, con 2,36 metri di dislivello. Nel corso dei secoli è stato usato come cantina e ripostiglio agricolo.
La cache è nascosta a pochi metri di distanza dall'ingresso dell'ipogeo, protetto da una porta in ferro. È possibile farsi un'idea della struttura guardando dall'esterno. La cache è un contenitore micro contenente solo il logbook, portatevi da scrivere. Buona ricerca!
The village of Terricciola, located in Valdera, is characterized by the presence of numerous hypogee tombs dating back to the Etruscan period between the 4th and the 2nd century BC.
