Geocache Description:

WATER-PROOF LOG

This arch most likely got here in the 1900's by a youth group. Beside it, an enormous tree that looks absolutely amazing in the summer. And they fit lovely together!

I was planning on putting my cache near the small street on the other side of the cemetery (keep walking forward) but couldn't due to some issues with the cache placement. It would kill for me to leave out the history I did with it so here it is.

Note the attribute that says a special tool is required. Don't worry, it's just tweezers.

So ever since I was 10, I've been coming to this little street to go to one of the stores here. Whenever I came, I noticed this big building to the left of me. It was old, the wood was all black and moist, broken glass everywhere, lots of trash in some areas, and even a worn down sign. Very creepy at night. 2016 comes along, and all of a sudden it's not there anymore. So what for did I care? It was creepy anyway. Must've torn it down. So now it's 2017. I'm now starting to realize that this area is a piece of history. The building, the railroad, the cemetery; it is all historic in some way. Why not make a geocache near it? And I did. I sadly do not remember what the building's purpose was. All I can pull out of my mind is that it was a factory of some sort. I believe it was glass, but I'm not too sure about that. In an old Google street view, it does say "Antiques" written on the side, but I don't think it took up the whole space. Now onto the railroad, I believe it's a part of Black River and Western Railroad, which was founded in the 1960's, built in 1854. Woah, that's old! The cemetery is controlled and is a part of the nearby Flemington Baptist Chruch. The history can be traced back to 1765. The building today was built in 1928. Sources say a few people are maintaining the quiet place. Interesting graves take you back in time to the old days. UPDATE: mlplatt has messaged me and told me the history behind the building. Thank you! It was a cut glass factory and showroom. The showroom was there until the late 80's (I wasn't born then heh). So there is the missing history for you.  ANOTHER UPDATE: Jan and the Man (2 people) have given me more history for this cache. Thank you!

I wish I could come here more often. CACHE MAY BE TEMPORARILY DISABLED DURING THE SUMMER DUE TO A NEARBY SUMMER CAMP EATING LUNCH NEAR THIS TREE. Update: The summer camp has not been an issue since the geocache's publication. They don't seem to be an issue, yet if they turn into one in the future, I will mark this cache as temporarily disabled until the camp is over.

Hopefully you find this interesting. Happy Caching!
