Geocache Description:

When Britain declared war on Germany in 1914, over 460 volunteers from the Woothakata Shire (later Mareeba Shire) answered the call to enlist. Mareeba's then population was around 1200. Across the Atherton Tablelands, around 1000 personnel formed part of the 57,700 Queensland  service men and women who enlisted in the First World War. Over 100 Mareeba Shire soldiers never returned home.

Anzac Park is dedicated to the local soldiers who lost their lives in WW1, WW2 and Vietnam. More information about the Tableland's war history can be found on the Mareeba Shire Anzac Trail brochure.

This cache is too small for swaps or TB's and is BYOP. The difficulty rating is due to the popularity of this park with locals and visitors alike. Please respect the sensitive nature of this area and replace cache as found. Stealth and extraction tool are required!
