St. David's is the first (and only) Catholic church in East Cowes.
A tin church was established in Connaught Road in 1906 to serve the newly formed East Cowes parish which was created mainly to serve the Naval College at Osborne House (which existed 1903-1921).
The Tin Church was replaced by a brick building in 1923; this building lasted until 1942 when it was destroyed by German bombardment during WWII.
Following the end of the war, the present church hall was built with the church itself being built 1951-1952 by architect C.A.F Sheppard. The current church was opened on St. Davids Day 1952.
