Geocache Description:

William Allen Crouch was renowned for his help and Generosity to settlers and for his many civic interests pertaining to future benefits to Mt Gambier.


William Allen Crouch arrived in South Australia on the 'Templar'. He had a sheep run between Angaston and Freeling, later went to Portland and then arrived in Mount Gambier. He became Storeowner, Post Master, National Bank Agent, Land and shipping agent, surveyor and architect. He designed many early buildings in Mt Gambier. After selling his business he went to live at Lowan Homestead at Kalangadoo. 

He held seats on the Main Roads Board and the Penola Council.
