[ENG] Oliviculture is coming back, on the island of Cres. Once widespread, in the second half of the last century the cultivation of olive trees was abandoned in many places, due to the urbanization of the population. Spontaneous trees and bushes then came in, quickly occupying the abandoned lots, as in the area around Pogana. Olive trees were quickly surrounded and overwhelmed by Mediterranean flora, but did not die.
A couple of years ago, my friend Edi decided to liberate the olive trees his father had grown, and clear cutted all the spontaneous vegetation around. He then transplanted some olive trees from another ground, in order to increase the producing land. You can see the result here: the 'new', transplanted trees in the foreground suffer beacuse they are trying to grow new roots, while the older (but seemingly younger) trees behind them are quickly recovering and will soon produce olives.
The cache is not located in Edi's orchard, but near the crossroad in front of the entrance.
