Geocache Description:

The seventh of a series of caches planned to be hidden at or near the historic rural schoolhouses of Routt County - beginning in West Routt during the summer of 2016!

A small bison tube type cache hanging at 6659' above sea level!  The school house sits on private land, so please respect the landowner's property and the residences!  You do NOT need to go on the schoolhouse land to find this cache!

"Southside was the name given the area south of the Yampa River and west of Steamboat Springs.  Before District 16 was formed in 1912, Southside was part of the Pool District 25 and Steamboat Springs District 4.   Classes met in a nearby ranch house until a school was built in 1913.  It was one of only nine county schools still operating when it closed in 1958, one of the few existing districts remaing when the county reorganized.  The white frame school and teacherage still stand along County Road 33, approximately four miles west of Steamboat Springs.  Both are now residences." (Windows to Yesterday; Routt County, Rural Schools 1883-1960, Leslie, 1998, p.51)
