Jusqu'en 1959, un lavoir communal alimenté par la fontaine et le ruisseau des Vaux, se situait à l'emplacment du carrefour.
On raconte qu'un curé nommé Caradec reçu des coups de "batouillé" d'une paroissienne qui faisait sa lessive dans le lavoir. Le voyant passé, elle régla ses comptes avec l'église.
De nombreuses fontaines jalonnent le bourg et ses villages, la Latte, la Ville Hardieux, Kérivet et sa fontaine-mare, le grand et le petit Trecelin, Cadoret, son lavoir et sa fontaine. Les lavoirs (ou doués) répartis sur toute la commune, étaient des lieu de vie importants, animés par des bavardages des lavandières et leurs coups de "batouillés"

Until 1959, a communal wash, supplied by the fountain was located where the crossroad stend today.
It is said that a local priest named Caradec once received a beating from a local women, who was doing her laundry in the wash. As she saw the priest passing by, she decided to settle her grief against the church, and attacked him with her "batouillé" (a laundry beater).
Numerous foutains can be found aroung the town and the villages nearby, such as La Latte, La Ville Hardieux, Kérivet, le grand et le petit Trécelin or Cadoret. The washes (also named "doué" ) installed around the town was once important public places, busy with gossip and the sound of the laundry beater.
