2nd cache in the series honoring our father/grandfather.
This cache is placed in honor of our father/grandfather who owned and operated a pig farm here for years. Others may also remember the pumpkins they used to sell from this same location. Some of his favorite phrases will help you in your search. Whenever he came to a stop sign, he would ask you if there was anything coming then he would answer his own question with "nothing coming but a horseless carriage and a choo choo train." Be careful and pull off well to the edge of this barn driveway as many cars come very fast around the corner. No need to cross the road here. My grandfather always used to tell me that "grandpas don't run unless there's a pig in the gutter." Be careful of the long grass and the side ditch when you walk along. The barn here was traditionally used for "teenage" boys who were waiting to be big enough for market. They were given freedom to run a bit. He always called it the "lower barn." The field here traditionally held corn, but was sometimes used as an overflow for pumpkins later on. Pete had a dog that could come out here and pick her own corn, husk it and then eat it in rows. Thank you for taking the time to help us honor a farmer from way back and keep the history of this field and barn. We need more people in this world as generous and kind as our father/grandfather, Pete VanGorder. Please make sure the Ziploc bags gets zipped tight to keep out water. There is room for a few smaller trade items. Congratulations on FTF to sootychurch and SJConnelly!!
