Destined never to be used but always a dream. William Murray Ross built the never to be used Rosstown Railway first in 1883 and then had to be redone in 1887-8 due to the shoddiness of the original build. It was to carry produce from his other failed venture in the area the sugar beet mill. ( the Northern Queensland Sugar cane industry would have probably ended its time anyway. ) There was a lot of concern from the market gardeners in the area that his mill would use all the water supply available in the area- (Lehmann's Swamp Reserve - now Koornang Park and the current swimming pool!) Ross bought and owned a lot of land in the area and had his home "the Grange"in the area . (Grange Road). Carnegie was known as Rosstown until the early 1900's but its namesake hotel still stands on Dandenong Road in Carnegie North. This cache is in Rosanna Street in a stretch of land with a Nursing home at one end and a Tennis club at the other.
The cache is a hidden plastic tube with log paper and pencil Please replace it the way you found it - upside down is best FTF honours go to The Welder, n0w0rries and Archie B1 for the original cache.
