This Blue Pig is placed in honor of Law Enforcement Geocachers. It is a close relative of the now departed Green Pig, probably eaten by local critters and/or carried away in high water periods. There is an easy trail from the North to the river and then South to very close to the cache. Some light bushwacking is needed the last 30 feet or so. If you chose to attempt from other directions there is a considerable amount of new Cottonwood and Coyote Willow growth that require heavy bushwacking for some distance, not advised. This flat walk can be attempted by parking on a nearby access point in the subdivision, or by parking in the City parking lots to the North or South and making a longer hike.
Rio Rancho Bosque hours and rules apply. No Night Caching, Please. Dogs on a leash and no smoking. This in an area of recent habitat restoration very close to the river. The approach could be wet during periods of high water.
Blue Pig has been eaten, only the hooves were discovered by a cacher. Replacement Blue (Sand)Pig in full SWAT gear is attached to an Altoids tin in the same spot.
