The cache is placed in Irene Rinehart Riverfront park. It is close to parking, but if you have time to explore, there are numerous other caches along the hiking trails in the area. (6 traditionals, a night cache, and a puzzle cache).
There's plenty of wildlife in the area. I've seen beaver, a huge variety of birds (the Audubon Society has a birdwalk here on the first Saturday of each month). Marmots and mice are also prevalent, which means, that undoubtedly, their cousin, the rat must also be present.
Rats are highly intelligent and used in a variety of psychological studies. They have a keen sense of smell and are often trained in odor detection. Rats are kept as pets; domesticated rats are calmer and less inclined to bite. Many cultures also have a tradition of eating rats, such as the Mishmi and Muashar peoples in India, and Polynesians. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)
Gather your courage. Wear a pair of gloves if it makes you feel better. Be prepared for whatever critters you might see in the park while finding this cache!
There is an unactivated trackable in the cache for the first to find. Happy hunting! Hopefully you won't be calling out the name of the cache in disappointment while walking away from GZ without a smiley.
