It is also an ideal opportunity for geocachers to catchup with one another and share information about existing and possible new caches in readiness for the better weather that is coming.
This CITO event is even more special in that similar events are being held worldwide during the nine day period, and to mark the event, Groundspeak will award a special souvenir to all who log attendance at any CITO event during the nine days.
So, the details:
Where: Coles Beach, Devonport - the cleanup area will be the foreshore from the railway bridge on the Don River eastwards to Coles Beach
When: Sunday 24th September 2017, 10:00-11:00am
Meeting Place: At the posted coordinates.
What To Bring: As well as sturdy footwear, warm clothes, hats and water, you will need to bring gloves and garbage bags to collect rubbish that is in the open or under trees. Please bring any other "tools" that may be helpful, such as a telescopic grabber.
Rubbish Disposal: 2y'stassies will arrange for disposal of the collected rubbish. They will also bring a container appropriate for the storage of any sharps (syringes etc) so that these dangerous items can be collected safely and are not included in general rubbish collections.
Other Options: There will be a CITO Event logbook available during the event for those who would like to sign it.
Parking: There is ample parking at the posted coordinates.
Horrendous Weather: The event will go ahead even if it is raining. However in case the weather on the day is absolutely diabolical, the COs will forward a phone number to all who indicate an intention to attend so that last minute arrangements can be shared.
Please make every effort to come along, even if you can only manage to be there for part of the time.
