Saturday, September 23, come celebrate Geocaching.com's CITO week with the Finger Lakes Geocachers as we do our duty to keep our playing board beautiful by picking up our 2 mile stretch of Rte. 14 as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program.
We will meet at the posted coordinates at 1pm. The CITO will begin with a brief safety presentation so you know what is expected of you and we will take a group photo. Please keep in mind that you will be dealing with garbage and be near traffic and/or parking areas. A keen eye and safety will be important. Some hard hats, gloves and vests will be available but it is recommended you bring your own if you have them. Any children participating at the CITO will be required to be supervised by an accompanying adult. The Finger Lakes Geocachers, Geocaching.com and the NYSDOT will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained during this event so please use common sense, teamwork and appropriate safety measures whenever possible!
We would like a small group to go down to Tin Can Alley and work their way north and the other group will start at the parking coordinates and work their way south and around the cloverleaf. While the parking area is unfortunately very littered with garbage, our efforts should be concentrated along the roadside of Route 14 as this is our designated Adopt-A-Highway area.
I will bring a case of water for attendees. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing. If you have any extra gloves or trash grabbers you could bring to share it would be very appreciated.
Help give back to our game's playing board, meet new friends and earn a souvenir on September 23. We can't wait to see you there!!
