in our disclaimer.
Life and travel on the frontier was fraught with difficulty and
danger. There were villians, diseases, hardships, hunger and
accidents. Here in California 150 years ago you either walked to
where you needed to go or rode on a horse or in a wagon. Railroads
were nonexistant and boats were limited to travel on navigable
waterways.
This virtual cache marks a spot commemorating an event early in our
state's history, when travel was a good deal more dangerous than it
is now. Ths bend in the Sacramento River was witness to a tragedy
that was all too common in those days.
Your goal:
1) Find this spot.
2) Note what is commemorated here.
3) E-mail me with the name of the person and the conveyance
mentioned, as well as the date in question. That's three bits of
information. If possible, use this link to send
the email. Remember to replace the # (Or use the Contact link on my
profile, above)
There is safe parking on the roadside, although traffic does whiz
by, so be careful. Look around, enjoy the countryside and see a bit
of rural Yolo County.
Standard virtual cache rules apply - please don't mention the
answers in your log, even if encrypted, I'll confirm your response.
Remember, the reward is in the hunt and in your surroundings - in
this case, a history lesson.
