23rd September to the 1st October, geocachers around the world will gather at events to clean up the geocaching game board: Planet Earth. Planting trees, removing invasive species, or simply tidying up your neighborhood can all earn you the 2017 CITO souvenir when you attend a CITO event.
Parking: There is some on street parking opposite the reserve on Laxton Road (or in many of the other side streets nearby).
Where: Please meet by the pond in the first field.
What: We will be working to dig out reed and vegetation from the central area of the pond. This will prevent the pond from becoming overgrown with vegetation. The material will be mounded around the edge of the pond to build up the bank in places to make it more usable for pond dipping.
How: Felicity the Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and any necessary tools. Wellies essential (as well as ‘old’ clothes which people don’t mind getting stinky and muddy!)
Health and Safety: All health and safety rules apply. Children will need close supervision and pets kept under control.
GAGB 2017 CITO Weekend
This is just one of the many events to be be held across the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands as part of the GAGB Annual CITO weekend, which this year is concentrating on the conservational side of CITO.
