In the DAR State Forest in Goshen. A fairly easy (< 1 mile) hike along trails from the nearest parking lot. You might have some difficulty with satellite reception at the very end (near the cache).
This cache is located in the DAR State Forest in Goshen, MA. Unless you want to hike into the forest, you'll need to be dropped off or pay to park ($5). Make a day of it and enjoy the swimming, canoing, or other hiking trails! Or, bring a tent and spend the night ($12). The DAR State Forest is one of the cleaner and more remote in the state, and is worth a visit. It includes 2 small lakes. The north lake has some interesting coves to explore by canoe. The south lake is difficult to launch into due to the mud, but looks wonderful for sailing a small boat (sunfish, sailfish, etc.).
Be sure to visit the Balancing Rock, but don't try to tip it!
The cache is in an ammo box off the trail. Take a picture of yourself with the camera. It has no flash, so you'll need to stand in the sunlight nearby. [ Note, camera has been removed for developing 7/30/03. Back soon! ]
We started the cache 8/8/2002 with a squirting frog, bubbles, soap, Fire Orders/Watchout Situation sticker from NWCG, Playmobile guy, a ring, a book, and a CD.
Cache replenished 7/30/2003 with: tumbled stones, Cape Cod Fiddlers CD, Declaration of Independence, purple yo-yo, yugio and pokemon cards, scarab bead, ball game, sand dollar, crayons, window hanging thingies, tattoos, fishing line, mardigras beads, soap, and fishing rig.
It is pretty well hidden. See the hint if you have trouble!
