According to Google, Swedish Scientist and Countess, Eva Ekeblad . The Countess discovered, in 1746, that potatoes could be turned into something similar to flour. As a result, people began using potatoes to make things like bread and vodka. Ekeblad's research helped reduce famine in Sweden. When she was 24, she submitted her work to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and became it's first female member. It would be 200 years until another female was accepted into the society.
