There are many caches along the well-known Manana Trail. This cache is located on a loop that veers off from the Manana Trail, down into the valley, up Iliahi ridge, and back to the Manana Trail where you started.
The Iliahi Loop is approximately 6 miles long and will take about 4-5 hours to complete. You can travel the loop in any direction, but the waypoints and numbered pictures on this cache page will take you along the loop going counter clockwise. This trail was recently cleared and most of it is clearly marked. However, on my most recent trip along this loop, there were copious amounts of trail ribbons marking a route down to the stream. After the first stream crossing, you will reach a point where the trail gets really muddy and it is difficult to discern the trail that will take you up to the ridge. Please use the waypoints and pictures so that you do not miss the turn that takes you up to Ililahi ridge.
The cache is located at a small clearing at the top of the loop. It is tied to the base of a tree. Once at GZ, you have the option of finishing the loop, or backtracking the way you came.
I had the chance to explore this area with a friend and I hope you enjoy this loop as well!
