Katovka v minulosti
V minulosti na tomto místě sídlil uherskobrodský kat. Ve středověku se kata každý bál, takže museli bydlet mimo město. Toto místo je zhruba 1 km od městských hradeb.
Kdo byli kati?
Kat je bývalý popravčí, který vykonává popravy lidí, kteří byli odsouzeni k trestu smrti. Kat také mučil odsouzené nebo vymáhal přiznání při výsleších obžalovaných. Ve středověku měly města své katy, kteří vykonávali tzv. hrdelní právo . Při práci mu pomáhali jeho pacholci. Často je také půjčovali za platbu z jiných měst. Vedle povolání kata vykonávali ještě další věci, jako např. úklid stok.
Katovka jako skládka
Skládka je situována v jižní části města Uh.Brod, v blízkosti obytné zástavby. Jedná se o skládku průmyslových odpadů z podniků v blízkém okolí. Skládkování mělo být ukončeno již v r.1975, postupně byla doba skládkování prodloužena. Bylo ukončeno v roce 1984. Část skládky byla zasažena při výstavbě obchvatu Uh.Brodu. V současnosti je skládka zavezená zeminou, vysazen jehličnatý porost.
Katovka v současnosti
Dnes se na Katovce konají různé volnočasové aktivity a oslavy občanů Uherského Brodu a okolí.
Ke keši
Pokud má nějaké nedostatky, tak se předem omlouvám. Je to má první keš, tak se nezlobte. Bydlím nedaleko od místa, takže bude keš často kontrolována. Pokud se vám něco nelíbí, kontaktujte mě. ;-)

Katovka as a landfill
The landfill is situated in the southern part of the town of Uh.Brod, near the residential area. It is a landfill of industrial waste from nearby businesses. The landfilling was supposed to be completed already in 1975, the period of landfill was gradually extended. It was finished in 1983. Part of the landfill was hit during the construction of the Uh.Brodu bypass. At present, the landfill is buried with soil, planted with coniferous vegetation.
