En geografía, un cabo o punta es un accidente geográfico formado por una masa de tierra que se proyecta hacia el interior del mar; recibe este nombre sobre todo cuando su influencia sobre el flujo de las corrientes costeras es grande, provocando dificultades para la navegación.
De España se pueden mencionar el cabo Finisterre, la Punta de Tarifa y el de Estaca de Bares, entre otros. La navegación efectuada entre cabos sin que se pierda contacto visual con la costa se denomina cabotaje.
Especial atención ponen los buques en navegación a estas lenguas de tierra que se adentra en el mar por kilómetros, siendo sus partes sumergidas las mas peligrosas para los barcos. Innumerables naufragios con un coste de vidas altísimo se da en las inmediaciones de los Cabos.
Este earth se sitúa en uno de los cabos mas conocidos de España, lidera la Costa de la Muerte, en la península de Finisterre (fin de la tierra) y es que su nombre lo dice todo. Esta costa y este faro han sido testigos durante años de la desaparición de cientos de personas en este poderoso Océano. En la actualidad se considera el km 0 del camino de Santiago, dándole mayor fama todavía a nivel mundial.
Las rocas que forma la punta de Este Cabo es un granitoide de megacristales en los que se puede diferenciar uno de estos minerales con mucha claridad.
