Geocache Description:

I've become fond of these bonus high terrain caches, so here's another! BYOP.

Go to posted coordinates (stage 1) and look for the brown/yellow sign.

Stage 2 is at: N45 AB.CDE W093 FG.HIJ

  • A = How many posts hold up this sign
  • B = How many times the word "river" appears on the sign
  • C = How many bolts hold the sign on + 1 (This is not a trick question, assume the sign is brand new and isn't damaged in any way)
  • D = How many times the word "lake" appears on the sign
  • E = # of letters on the very first (top-left) word + 1
  • F = This is a cooperative project between how many organizations? + 1
  • G = How many times the letter "P" appears on this sign
  • H = # of letters on the very last (bottom-right) word
  • I = How many times the word "canoe" appears on the sign
  • J = How many times the word "kayak" appears on the sign

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Now go to Stage 2 (you will need non-powered water transportation!), you need to find the five-digit number that is directly above the word SPAN2, let this be XXXXX. You need to do this from the water, you cannot do this from street level!

YYYYY = XXXXX - 49402
ZZZZZ = XXXXX - 26485

Note, you will assume a period at the 3rd position. E.g. if your number is 12345, you would use that in the final as 12.345.

Final is at: N45 YY.YYY W093 ZZ.ZZZ

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Please note - this cache is in a potentially dangerous location and seeking it is done at your own risk! Legal entry points (PWAs) are provided, other entry points may be considered trespassing on private property. The terrain rating reflects the need to travel a significant distance on water. I strongly recommend against doing this one during winter, as no ice is safe, especially river ice.
