Geocache Description:

The cache is an ammo box. It contains a log book and there is room for swaps and trackables.  There is tree cover and you may need to use your geo-nose at the final; the clue refers to a nice example of the type.

The cache is located on the Te Araroa trail.  From the official web site: “Te Araroa is New Zealand's Trail - taking in spectacular New Zealand landscapes from beaches to volcanoes to forests to cities.  The 3000km route stretching from Cape Reinga in the North of New Zealand to Bluff in the South was officially opened December 3rd, 2011 by the Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae”.  http://www.teararoa.org.nz/

Locally, the track has been enhanced with native planting in recent years, which is now becoming well established.  The cache is located just off the track; please take care underfoot as small trees are growing.  There is parking at each end, on Atawhai Road and Springdale Grove.  The path from here connects to several other caches located in the gullies and regenerated bush nearby.  No dogs allowed around the Children's playground and dogs have to be on leash in the park area.
