Storia:
Le più antiche notizie sulla chiesa di San Donato risalgono al 1443 d.c. Non si sa con esattezza quando fu costruita tale chiesetta, ma ciò dovette avvenire tra il 1300 e il 1400. Nel 1630 il paese di Osio fu colpito dalla peste e per cercare di allontanare il pericolo con tutti i mezzi, umani e divini, i capifamiglia del paese il 23 giugno si trovarono in chiesa e fecero un voto, promettendo - in cambio della salvezza - penitenze, solennità religiose e la costruzione di una chiesa dedicata alla Madonna. S'impegnarono anche a santificare e solennizzare San Donato "che è al 7 agosto": forse proprio allora si cominciò a dare importanza alla festa di S. Donato come poi divenne tradizione per il nostro paese.

Generalmente il santuario è un luogo molto tranquillo, di conseguenza non ci sono molti babbani. Per approcciare il cache basta osservare bene i dintorni del santuario: VIETATO scavalcare il cancelletto! Osserva attentamente come aggirarlo ;)

History:
The most ancient informations available about this little countryside sanctuary, are settled in 1443 a.c. There are no exact datas about when the church has been built, most likely between 1300 - 1400 a.c. In 1630 Osio has been hit by the black plague; in order to excape the plague in any possible way, religious and not, the richest ones in the village gathered July the 23rd in this church and made a promise to Saint Donato: they would have worshipped the Saint in many ways, in return of health and salvation. From that day on, Saint Donato grew in importance and popularity among the people in the village. It grew that much that, nowadays, every August the 7th the whole village gathers in the streets and in the sanctuary's outdoor to celebrate by eating "casoncelli" (Bergamo's traditional ravioli) and watching fireworks. It definitely worths to spend the night in the village, if you log the cache during that very day :) !
Cache:
Usually the sanctuary is a quiet place, therefore there are not a lot of mugglers. To approach the cache you just need to have a look around: ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN to jump above the gate! Stop and observe carefully how to bypass it ;)
