Geocache Description:

Quick find near the PNE and Empie Field.

This cache is a tribute to the first cache I ever found. Unfortunately, that cache was taken down because the container became very soggy and in very bad condition. My second ever cache, a magnetic that was also near Empire Field, was also taken down. This cache is located near two popular sites in Vancouver: the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE; Playland area), and Empire Field. The area has a lot to be proud of.

The PNE celebrated its 100th anniversary, titled "100 years of fun," in 2010, and celebrated 50 years of the still active wooden roller coaster in 2008. It is the largest and best attended ticketed event in British Columbia consisting of rides, shows, food, competitions, and much more. Over the years they have held concerts, raves, and derby as well as shows involving timber, fireworks, magic, circus acts, acrobatics, dogs, and pianos. There are always new exhibits to see every year and it is a great place to visit in the last two weeks of summer before labour day. Their ever popular and continuing Superdogs show debuted in 1984. Within the fair grounds holds the Pacific Colisum in which both the Vancouver Giants and Vancouver Canucks used to play. The Coliseum also hosted the figure staking and short track competitions for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Empire Field was twice formerly Empire Stadium, and has housed the Vancouver Whitecaps and the BC Lions. The second building was only a temporary structure while the BC Stadium roof was under construction. Elvis Presley's only appearance in Vancouver was here in 1957, and his concert tickets were sold from $1.50 to $3.50 each. The Beatles' only performance in Vancouver was also here in 1964. Their most expensive ticket was $5.25.

The cache is located near the curve of a road. Please place it back as you found it. A parking lot is located behind it, but please read the signs. Beware of muggles! Empire Field is very popular, especially during summer and when there are soccer games. It is highly recommended that you do not find this cache during fairtime due to extremely high amounts of people and traffic.
