Geocache Description:

On the Te Aroroa trail along Oreti Beach.

The beach is a marvelous place to be. Seeing the endless waves crashing on the sand. Seeing the gulls almost stay in the one place while flying the air currents along the beach.

For those doing the trail this beach must be a bit of a chore walking in the sand. Sometimes fairly solid other times soft. Also the wind almost sand blasts your face off. Great views to the North of the Takatimu Mountains which you either have been though or about to get to.

This cache is near a place I have tented many mellennia ago.

To get to this cache you can drive on the beach but will need to walk a bit into the dunes. Or you could park near the North End Beach access road and walk along the beach. Please note the beach is tidal and at times access along the beach for cars is not safe. At very high tides the water does come right up to the dunes. There is an undefined inland trail that sort of follows a fenceline.

Container is a generous 10 litre plastic screw top . It has a log book with plenty of space to write comments or draw a picture, a pen and some colour pencils and sharpener, a couple of bricks for anchorage.
