Big Bang Obsession - Cache 14 of 14 - Debbie Traditional Cache

This series of 14 geocaches is dedicated to my favorite television comedy show - The Big Bang Theory. Created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, the series premiered on CBS in September of 2007. At the time of the construction of these geocaches, the series has just wrapped up it's 10th season and has all ready been renewed for two more! I am still hopeful that it will be picked up for an additional 2 years after that, so I decided to do a series of 14 caches bringing the 14 favorite characters to the forefront.

The last character that I have made a cache for is Debbie Wolowitz, the mother of Howard Wolowitz, played by Carol Ann Susi.

Debbie's character was very unique, in that you only heard her voice, (and a very obnoxious one at that), on the show and never saw her actual character, except once VERY briefly through a kitchen hallway.

Debbie was a bit simple-minded, thinking and treating her son as though he was still in school instead of working in a University, where he played with his "friends from school" - not his colleagues.

Her role was in playing a stereotypical Jewish mother who never wanted anything to happen to her little boy or to ever have him move out of the residence. Howard was so afraid to tell his mother that he was getting married, that he thought it would be easier for his bride-to-be to move in with his mother and him, something Bernadette wanted no part of. So, Howard tried to "keep it a secret between his fiance and his mother until it all came to a head.

One of Howard's most proudest accomplishments, was that he created a "waste station", aka toilet, for the International Space Station and was trained by NASA to actually fly to the International Space Station to install it. Debbie got upset with him while having the opportunity to talk to him while he ws in space because he had been gone so long and never even bothered to send her a postcard!

Sadly, during season 8, Carol Ann Susi died after a very brief bout of cancer. They wrote the death of Howard's mother into the scripts that followed, and paid their respects to her by the cast making a memorial meal from her favorite foods and recipes that were in her freezer.

A very interesting factoid: Since Susi's death, there has been a small wallet sized picture of "Debbie" on Sheldon and Leonard's fridge, so theoretically, she is still on the show every week. Carol Ann Susi was 62.
