The Winchester Green Circle is a walking and bicycling path designed to connect neighborhoods and points of interest in the City of Winchester.
The Winchester Green Circle project, when completed, will provide safe facilities and accommodations for both bicyclists and pedestrians, to access major destinations in the city.
The circle connects areas of historic, recreational, educational and natural interest. Some of those attractions include Glen Burnie Historic House & Gardens/Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Jim Barnett Park, Shenandoah University, Old Town Winchester, and the Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve. The planned 7-to-8-mile route includes Wilkins Lake, Shenandoah University, the Apple Blossom Mall, Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve, Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Winchester Medical Center, Old Town Winchester, Shawnee Springs Preserve and Jim Barnett Park.
Where possible the routes follow local streams emphasizing the restoration, protection and interpretation of natural resources and urban green spaces.
THIS LOG and the ORIGINAL CACHE were stolen around 4/2018 *****I wanted to take some time to explain my logbook. I made this cache in 2015 and planned on putting it out when I was away on vacation with my family. I was new to geocaching, had been doing it for about 6 months at that point, and really wanted to put one out that meant something to me. My family and went to an island of the coast of Florida called North Captiva. The only way on the island is by boat or plane. Is is so pretty. I planned on putting the cache in an old boat that had wrecked on the island and named the cache "Island Cache". Well I was denied by the reviewer because it was too far away and it was too close to a nature preserve. So I picked it up and packed it away. I renamed the cache "rock lobster" and recently put it out, but I forgot about the log book note I had left. If you ever get a chance go to North Captiva, Fl. it has to be one of my top vacations I have ever went on.
