Geocache Description:

Put away your GPS, and get out your smartphone. This is a new style interactive cache taking you on a journey for a geocache!

Please read before you head out!

*This cache requires a mobile Internet connection while finding the geocache*

So what's an intercache?

An intercache is an interactive geocache. An intercache is a new way of creating a mystery geocache, similar to a wherigo geocache. The biggest difference is that the entire geocache can be developed, edited, and played on your mobile phone's browser with no software required to download!

How do you play?

First, make sure you have a compatible device. Go to (visit link) or (visit link) (www.intercaching.com/intercache) on your mobile phone /device and select the “test device” button.

I recommend doing this outside for best results. You should see your current coordinates as well as the estimated accuracy. If you see something reasonable, you'll all set! If you get an error, you may need to enable the GPS and other geolocation settings on your phone. Else grab a friend by a device and go as a team!

If your device is compatible, follow this link on you mobile phone/ device

This intercache is short and simple. Start the intercache link when you are near the listed coordinates. It will bring you to a sign, you answer a simple question, and the final coordinates will pop up. The intercache page should also navigate you to the final, but on my iPhone 5c, I found the navigation a little wonky. You can just put the final coordinates into your gpsr you used to get to the listed coordinates.

This geocache is placed with permission of Great Parks of Hamilton County Permit 090820-03 . Participants must stay on designated trails until you approach the cache and must follow all park rules.

There is a compass that has a red arrow pointing you the right direction as you move. You may have to walk a little bit before the arrow points in the right direction as this application doesn't have access to your phone's digital compass if it has one.

Each stage will have some information and pictures about the location, but you don't have to find anything physical other than some signs until the final.

Some of the stages will require you to answer a question before it lets you move on. All of the stages will require that you are within a given radius (15 meters) of the location before you can move on.

This is a new way of looking for a geocache. I tested this best I can on my device (iPhone 5c) and I have walked the route to check there is mobile service the whole way with my data provider, but you may encounter some problems. Sorry if this is the case (Let me know of any issues and I will see if I can help!)

I am not sure how these will take off but I thought I would give it a go as I love being a bit geeky with things I will look forward to reading your logs about how you think it has gone. Good Luck!

Other notes: I recommend that you do NOT leave the web browser during play.

At minimum, don't open a new web page. I successfully switched apps while playing/testing it, but if you close the browser window, you may have to start over.

It's safe to let your screen timeout while walking.

When the screen times out, your GPS *should* go off and not waste battery. When you turn your phone screen back on, it might take a few seconds for the app to get your coordinates again.

I hope you enjoy this new idea for a geocache and I hope it works for you.

*From the author of the intercache webpage*

"If you're interested in making your own, please go ahead and try. But let me know as I'm still making changes and updates, and might break something you have done. At a minimum, please make a backup copy of your values by going to the print dialog on the edit screen, which will let you either print or save the cache and locations. New features coming "soon" Nonlinear play, allowing visits to stops in any order Restricted times ... prevent the cache from working at night in closed areas, or only allow it to work at night for a new way of creating a night cache! Timing ... specifies a max time to get between stages. Make those cachers run! Random orders ... each player gets random order for the waypoints. This prevents cacher congestion as happens during some multis."
