This cache was placed a few weeks back. Originally it was based on numbers on a cabinet and on some equipment. I dithered for a while waiting to see if the final placement was going to last. I made one last visit prior to publishing the listing, and found lots of activity in the underpass (painting was in full swing). When the painting was finished, I thought that would make a better basis for a multi.
A number of planes are painted (in part or in full) on each wall of the under pass. You need to gather the following info:
- A = number of planes with windows on the N wall.
- B = number of light fittings in the ceiling.
- C = number of front wheels on the N wall.
- D = number of running engines on the N main wall panels (the rectangular panels under the bridge). You are looking for engines where no blades are visible, but there is a circle around the engine showing where the blade tips would be spinning.
- E = number of window panes on the N wall.
- G = number of tail wheels on the N wall.
- H = number of window panes on the S wall.
The original cache location was S 43 30.abc E 172 32.def, where
a = A - B
b = B + C + D
c = E
d = B + C
e = B - G
f = H
Checksum for a + b + c + d + e + f is 35.
The original cache was muggled, and its replacement is a short distance away. You need to add 0.042 to the South minutes and subtract 0.065 to the East minutes (checksum for the corresponding 6 digits in the final coordinates is 21).
You are looking for a magnetic key holder hidden in the obvious place.
Parking could be tricky, as there are no parking lines through much of the airport commercial area.
Vehicles can suddenly appear here; all counts can be determined while standing on the footpath!
