Geocache Description:

This is part of a loop around Bryn Bach Park near Tredegar.  The loop aims to raise awareness of the previous Bronze Age activity in the area some 3,000 years ago, the more recent mining activity and the subsequent manner in which nature has reclaimed the land and enabled  all types of wildlife to thrive in suitable habitat.  The loop was created by the Younger Persons Group

. Cache placed with the kind permission of Bryn Bach Park. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE LAMINATED FACT FROM CACHE

Eyebright is a low-growing annual plant found in all kinds of short grasslands, from the top of cliffs to windswept heaths, wildflower meadows to downlands. There are about 20 species of Eyebright and around 60 hybrids, which are all very similar and difficult to tell apart from each other. These species are generally semi-parasitic, feeding off the nutrients from the roots of nearby grasses. For this reason, they are quite useful plants in terms of keeping vigorous grasses at bay in order that wildflowers can thrive.

This annual plant has been used as a folk medicine to treat eye inflammations and infections, coughs, and poor memory since the Middle Ages

Please do not remove laminated fact from the cache as it is intended for educational purposes.
