The Geocache Proposal
When it was time for Scott to "pop the question", he wanted to do something special that would both surprise Bekki and make for a fun story to share for years to come. Being a long time fan of geocaching, he decided that it would be the perfect way to ask for her hand! So, after locating a special geocache location (with the help of her best friend) and getting the approval of her parents, he introduced her to geocaching and took her on an adventure that would lead to their happily ever after.
The two traveled to Mt. Pisgah Altar, a romantic spot on the way to her parent's home, that just happened to have a challenging geocache. After reaching the general location using the GPS coordinates, Scott sent her in the wrong direction -- hoping that he could quickly and easily find the geocache container first using the clues. This geocache proved to be one of the most challenging he had ever found and took him a lot longer to find than he had planned.
He finally found the creatively camoflaged container, which was also hidden under a rock covered with fresh fallen October leaves! Before alerting Bekki to the find, he opened the container and slipped the engagement ring inside. Then, stepping out with the container, he handed it to Bekki to open. After opening the container and rumaging through it's contents, she noticed the ring and he asked her to marry him.
If you are feeling adventurous, we recommend searching for this cache as well. It is about a 30min drive to this beautiful and scenic spot!
Launching The Blucky Wedding Stash
Almost a year later, the couple returned to that altar to say their vows and in order to commemorate that special day, the couple launched a new geocache at the site of their reception (about 30min away) to retell their story for years and years to come!
