The Trench Trail is part of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands. The Trench Warfare and Bombing School was hosted by Duntroon from March 2016. It trained officers for the kind of warfare being employed in France and Flanders so they could train their own companies in turn, More that 430 participants went through the School. After the first world war, the trench system was filled in and forgotten. it was rediscovered in 2014 and archeological work revealed the trench system is still visible below the surface.
In this part of the Wetlands, the original trench training system is laid out for interested people to view and walk. Obviously, the trenches are no longer in place, but have been filled in and marked by signs or posts.
