The parking where you leave your car is safe. I have not had any incidents here, even though I have parked here often to do hikes. The parking area is always in need of de-littering, and you are encouraged to do some CITO when parking here.
This is a faint path that leads to the top of Tolberg, one of the many peaks in the Outeniqua mountains.

Very few people know about this route up the mountain. It is clear to follow most of the way, with a few faint sections across the rocky areas. No special equipment is needed to hike to the top. At a average pace, you can walk to the top and back in 5-6 hours.
It is recomended to get a self issue permit at the Witfontein forest station. See the waypoint for directions there.
As with all outdoor activities, please make sure that someone knows where you are going, and dont go alone.
Check the weather before you go, take some warm clothing, and enough water and snacks.
Enjoy the hike! Photos will be appreciated.
