1864年12月18日、水戸浪士（天狗党）が和田宿から下諏訪宿へ向かって和田峠を通過した際に水戸浪士と高島藩・松本藩連合軍との戦いがここでありました。
戦いは水戸浪士が勝利し、彼らは１０余名の戦死者をこの地に埋め、京都をめざして出発してしまいました。
負けた高島藩は埋められた浪士のために塚を造り、名前の分かった６柱の名を刻んだ石碑を建てました。
それを「浪人塚」と呼んでいます。
キャッシュは、浪人塚が眺められる場所に設置しました。

On December 18, 1864, when Mito Warriors (Tengu party) passed Wada Pass from Wada inn toward Shimosuwa inn, the fight between Mito Warriors and the Takashima clan and Matsumoto Domain Allied forces was here.
Mito Warriors won the battle.
Mito Warriors buried over ten more casualties in this place and started for Kyoto.
The losing Takashima clan built a mound for the buried battlefield and built a monument carved the name of the six people.
Local people call it "Ronin mound".
The cache was installed in a place where the Ronin mounds can be seen.
