No, not 200 years of the state of Michigan - that's only been around since 1837. The University of Michigan was founded in 1817 in Detroit, making 2017 its 200th year in existance.  In honor of this milestone, team goblue1994 has released this cache which will test your knowledge of the Number 1 ranked public university in the country. Click here for proof


A. – On October 1_, 1969 The Michigan Daily published an article regarding the “death” of Paul McCartney that was picked up by news wire services and made it a nationwide story.

B – The University of Michigan became the school’s official name in 18_1.

C – The school moved its campus to Ann Arbor in 18_7.

D – The College of Pharmacy was founded in 18_6.  It was the first pharmacy school at a public institution.

E – The most lopsided win in Michigan football history was in 190_, when they beat West Virginia 130-0.

F – Most people know that Gerald Ford was the only president from Michigan, but another Michigan grad came close to beating Harry Truman in 1948.  He graduated from Michigan in 192_.

G – The Alumni Association has a chapter on the moon (seriously!).  It was started in 19_1.

H – Louis Elbel wrote “The Victors” in 189_ after watching the football team pull out a victory over the University of Chicago.

I – There are only 23 grand carillons in the world.  The fourth-largest is in Burton tower on central campus.  The tower was designed by Albert Kahn and dedicated on December 4, 19_6.

J – Women were first admitted to the school in 18_0.

K – The first Ann Arbor graduating class in 1845 had _1 men.

L – Michigan has had _ Heisman trophy winners, which is _ more than Michigan State. (use only the first number – the same number fits in both blanks because MSU has zero).

M – The first “official” collegiate hockey game West of the Allegheny Mountains was played between Michigan and Wisconsin on January 12, 192_.  Michigan won 2-1 on what was described as a “lucky goal” by a Madison newspaper.
