Whey-Ah-Whichen, or ‘faces the wind’, is the Tsleil-Waututh name for Cates Park. This is North Vancouver District’s largest seaside park, with 6 km of waterfront trails that wind past sandy beaches and through a mixed forest of Douglas-fir and bigleaf maple. The cache can be easily accessed.
Cates Park is a lovely park, with viewpoints of tranquil Indian Arm to the north and busy Burrard Inlet to the south. Tennis courts, trails, playgrounds, beaches, picnic shelter, a concession, and a display of native totems and a canoe offer year-round recreation with a cultural flavour. The larger main entrance provides access to the better beaches and a larger children’s play area. The cache is a small camo jar. Please make a note in the log book.
Be careful of muggles in this busy park when the weather is nice.
This cache was moved from it's original location due to frequent problems, presumably due to it's out in the fairly open nature in a high muggle area. It has now been moved twice after going missing two times. Hopefully this lasts a while!
