What, Where, When, and For Whom is the MV-GIFF 2017?
Each year MVG volunteers enjoy hosting Geocachers and muggles alike to join together and celebrate our favourite hobby/obsession/addiction through reative films from around the world.
Once again you are all invited to come out and have a fun SATURDAY evening at the Richmond Cultural Centre as 17 films are viewed and voted upon by you while we have a fun evening together, including prizes and likely a few surprises! That's right, this year's gala is hosted by Metro Vancouver Geocachers and supported by the City of Richmond!

WHO: Everyone is welcome, but please note your "Will Attend" including the number of people in your party - we have a limit of 110 seats!
What to Expect at the MV-GIFF 2017
You'll arrive in style, we're certain, and we'll be expecting you (because you logged your "Will Attend" - right?)...
As you enter the theatre lobby you'll have the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the elite of the MV Geocaching world (that'd be all of you). There will be a red carpet, live voting, and maybe even a few surprises.
You are more than welcome** to take and post your selfies on the red carpet (use #GIFF2017 when you post them) as you enjoy the energy of one of the biggest events of the Fall Geocaching Season.
Once our MC for the evening kicks things off, you'll have the opportunity to use your smartphone to vote LIVE for your favourite amongst the 17 short films we'll be watching. The results will be shared live and during the extended intermission at the half-way point of the evening.
By the end of the evening, we'll have some prize drawings!
What Should You Wear and Bring to the MV-GIFF 2017
Wear whatever you are comfortable and legally allowed to go out in public in. However, much like previous years' super-glamorous affairs, we are encouraging all the MV Geocachers who attend to dress it up in style. You all looked so fabulous the last two years we can't wait to see you again this year!
Whether you want to arrive black-tie-formal, cosplay, or casual, we can't wait to see you all!
As we've noted, it'll be important to also bring your smartphone so that you can participate in the live on-line polling that will be taking place during and between the films. No special apps are required, and any smartphone with Internet access will work. The voting results will be shared live on the big screen during the show breaks.

Please also note** that while this is a public Geocaching event open to all, there may be photographs (selfies, group pictures, etc) taken by various individuals that you may inadvertently be in.
** MV Geocachers and all volunteers associated with the event cannot prevent any individuals from taking photos during this event. If you have serious concerns about accidentally being captured in a photo that may be posted to the Internet we suggest this may not be the event for you.
Okay that being said, please take into account that not everyone wants their picture posted on social media or in the geocaching event logs. Think before you post a picture. And if you see someone filming or taking pictures and you wish for them not to post them anywhere please approach them in a positive and polite way and inform them of your concerns.
