Parasites are creatures that live in the flesh or on the bodies of other animals. There are lots of them. Some scientists even claim that there are more species of parasites than of the other animals.
Parasites are small, they must fit in another organism or on it. They are also very clever - they can often change their form. It’s a very helpful ability as the search for a host usually significantly differs from living inside it or on its body.
We can also be habitats for parasites. There are over 430 species of creatures that can live on the human body or inside it.
But keep calm! Modern people are too clean to have many parasites. For sure you do not have 430 species! But you can have 1 or 2 even if you do not think you have one. While some parasites cause disease in their hosts, others do not harm them – that’s why sometimes people are not aware they are parasites’ hosts.
