This is part of my Trainspotting Series. Us cachers enjoy making our hunts a great hobby. Well another hobby that exists out there is called Trainspotting, also known as railfanning. Yes, its those people you see beside the railroad tracks with a camera ready and waiting for their perfect shot or catch. This series will take you to many spots that has or could be used for this hobby. If your lucky enough to have a train go by while hunting for this cache, be sure to grab a photo and add to your log!
REMEMBER, Railroad safety is priority #1. Please stay off the tracks and be safe.
Caches will always be in a safe spot away from any danger.

This is a great location to set up a camera as just a short distance you can see the switch to the siding. The siding is there for trains to hold while another passing train can get by. However there is some history at this location. On February 21, 2003, as a train was holding in the siding awaiting a train carrying cars with fuel to pass, the train carrying the fuel derailed and the tank cars collided with the lead train that was waiting in the siding. This caused a huge explosion. The explosion was so big, it threw the tanker car half a mile away from where the incident happened. Due to the fact the fuel was out of control and firefighters couldn't extinguish, there was a 15 mile radius evacuation of local residents so the fire could eventually burn itself out. Luckily no one was killed or badly injured. There was approximately 600 feet of track replaced, some which you can see here at this location.
