Part of the Indiana County GeoTrail
This farm made our list because they use many sustainable practices, including rotational grazing - a practice that allows pastures time to rest and regrow by moving animals from pasture to pasture over a period of time.
If you don’t see any animals in the pasture today when you visit, still take the time to look at the plants in the pasture. If the grass is tall and looking like it needs to be mowed, then the cows should be there soon. If it is looking well grazed and there are lots of fresh manure piles, then the cows were just moved to the next pasture. If you do see animals, please feel free to take pictures, but for your safety and theirs do not attempt to pet them or go into the pasture with them.
