After the event, cachers who want to can take part in a Photo Hunt. You will be given instructions, and will then need to head off in teams of 4 through Wicklow. On the way there are stops that need to be made, and items that need to be photographed. Points will be given for every photo, with the best of each item receiving bonus points. On arrival at the final location, points will be totted up, and a winner will be declared.
If taking part in the hunt I would encourage you to team up with other people and come in as few cars as possible. Ideally each car would have 4 people in it. There is paid parking at the starting co-ords.
The hunt will end in Lynham's of Laragh (waypoint provided below), at 14:30. We have a few tables reserved and there is a carvery lunch for anyone that wants it. At this location I will add up the points and announce the winners.
Instructions for the Photo Hunt
Times have moved on since I first held this event, so I'm going to change the format somewhat. Now nearly everyone has a smart phone which they use for caching and photos, so I am going to have teams submit the photos online. I would recommend you use a phone to take the photos if possible, but I will still be able to accommodate people that want to use a camera that takes SD cards.
- A pdf with full instructions will be added to this page shortly before the event. Unlike previous years I won't be printing this out for everyone. You will use an electronic version on your phone.
- Waypoints for each stage will be added as "Additional Waypoints" on this page shortly before the event.
- Your photos can be uploaded to: https://dropevent.com/gallery/IEGCPhotoHunt, or they can be emailed to IEGCPhotoHunt@dropevent.com
You may be asked to enter your email address, but you won't be asked to register. Please make sure when possible to tag the photos with your team name. I have been told there is free WiFi at the final location.
- Please try to limit the photos you upload to one or two for each stage
- 10 points given for each correct photo, bonus points for best or most creative photos. Make sure to take a photo of everything in bold
- I encourage you to get out of your car at each stage. Some stages may be possible to capture from the car, but where's the fun in that?
- Various scavenger can be snapped on the way. These can be taken from your car (but not if you're the driver!)
- This is not a race. However, please try to make it back in under 3 hours so that we can judge the photos and announce a winner.
