Geocache Description:

Bolam Lake is an artificial stretch of water that was created in 1818 by Mr John Dobson.

It is surrounded by a 100-acre country park of woodland and meadows.

Take a stroll around the lake on the woodland paths and boardwalks to see the Mute and Black swans, Canadian Geese, Moorhens and Mallards. Take some bread with you for a great close-up photo opportunity.

There is a visitor centre, café and toilets on the site as well as a variety of picnic areas.

There is an ancient settlement at Slate Hill (near to N 55° 08.010 W 001° 52.760), and although the cache does not take you near it, please try and avoid it.
