Without a doubt the wine industry is the driving force behind Marlborough's economy and this cache is the fourteenth in a series started by Kiwimykl to highlight the industry.
This is a contract winery.
Wineries are expensive to set up and operate. They have hundreds of thousands of dollars (if not millions) invested in equipment, some of which is only used for a few weeks a year through the harvest period.
It makes sense then that many smaller companies find it more economical to get their grapes processed and their wine made at a facility like this where contract winemakers will help them develop their wines. There are a few such operations in Marlborough. At the time of publication, the wines produced at this facility included Ant Moore, Staete Landt, Tinpot Hut, Stopbanks, Gibson Bridge, Konrad Wines and Ranui, to name a few.
